Neurological diseases can cause a broad range of symptoms, ranging from progressive muscle weakness to difficulty with basic body functions like breathing, swallowing, and speaking. Many common neurological diseases do not have definite causes, though many seem to be related to autoimmune dysfunction. Treatments are usually focused on medication and management of symptoms. Research is ongoing to investigate how the regenerative properties of stem cells may be used to alleviate the debilitating symptoms of neurological disease.
